Annual regional women in policing conference held in Tbilisi

The 9th Annual Women in Policing Regional Conference organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in cooperation with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) took place in Tbilisi from 3 to 6 March, 2020.
This annual conference aims to develop the qualification of law enforcers and emphasize the role of women in police.
The event brought together 260 female representatives from law enforcement agencies of Georgia, Armenia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Pakistan, Albania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine. Armenia’s delegation consisted of female officers from various units of the RA Police and Investigation Committee. Representatives of the Police Headquarters, the General Department of Public Security, the Educational Complex and Yerevan City Department participated in the event.
Welcoming remarks were made by Georgia's Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri.
US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan expressed gratitude to the participants and organizers. She emphasized the importance of the role of women in law enforcement especially in the prevention of violence and crime.
During the training, participants were introduced to the experience of female police officers from various US states, attended experts’ lectures on leadership and communication skills, performed practical tasks, and participated in tactical readiness exercises.
