A delegation led by the Head of the Directorate of Political Advice in the Council of Europe visits the Armenian Police (VIDEO and PHOTOS)

On Thursday, July 2 First Deputy Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Police Lt. Gen. Hunan Poghosyan received the delegation led by Mr. Alexandre Guessel, Head of the Directorate of Political Advice in the Council of Europe. 
Welcoming the guests, Mr. Poghosyan presented the main peculiarities of the current stage of police reforms and expressed his satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the Armenian Police and the relevant structures of the Council of Europe. 
Mr. Guessel expressed appreciation of the warm welcome extended to them and highlighted the positive shifts in the police activities. Mr. Guessel expressed his conviction that the further development of bilateral cooperation will have a positive impact on the reform process. 
The guests posed a number of questions related to the police accountability, realization of preventive measures against ill-treatment and torture of arrestees, current stage of the action program for protection of human rights and etc. 
Mr. Guessel and his accompanying persons took an interest in the recent developments in Yerevan and the status-quo on Marshal Baghramyan avenue. 
Mr. Poghosyan provided full and detailed information about the course of events, police actions and measures aimed at maintaining the public order. 
Head of the Directorate of Political Advice in the Council of Europe Alexandre Guessel expressed his satisfaction with the apparent police control over the situation. 
Mr. Guesell expressed hope that the aforementioned processes will in no wise go beyond legal frameworks.
The meeting agenda also included other issues of mutual interest.
