Work is underway to introduce Negotiating Police

From 15 to 19 November, an OSCE expert delegation paid a visit to the Armenian Police. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the perspective and ways of introducing the principles of the Negotiating police service in the RA Police.
The task of the Negotiating Police Service is to conduct effective negotiations during mass events. It is aimed at strengthening the atmosphere of police-society cooperation, trust, effective management of public security.
OSCE experts Sanya Viklund and Carl-Johan Ahlström are currently having meetings with the leaderships of Police headquarters and a number of departments and services to assess the needs.
On November 15, Chief of Police Staff, Police Colonel Armen Mkrtchyan received OSCE experts and OSCE Program Coordinator Ruzanna Baghdasaryan. Welcoming the guests, he highly assessed the cooperation of the RA Police with the OSCE, due to which many programs have been implemented.
Armen Mkrtchyan expressed readiness to continue and expand the cooperation. Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the guests presented the purpose of the visit and expressed readiness to support the introduction of Negotiating police in Armenia.
During the meetings with the Commander of the Police Troops Hayk Babayan, the Head of the General Department of Public Security Georgi Ayvazyan, Head of the Department of Special forces Armen Karapetyan, heads of the subdivisions presented the functions of the services during mass events and while maintaining public order and security and answered the questions of the experts.
Based on the results of the visit, the OSCE experts plan to develop a training program that will contribute to the introduction of negotiating police principles in Armenia.
