2013 activity results summed up at Police Collegium meeting (VIDEO and PHOTOS)

A regular meeting of the Collegium of Police of the Republic of Armenia was held under the chairmanship of Head of Police, Lieutenant General Vladimir Gasparyan on Wednesday, January 22.
Head of Police Headquarters, Major General Vardan Eghiazaryan made a summary report on the results of the operational activities of the service of Police territorial divisions and bodies in 2013. In his speech, the Major General said that in 2013 the process of police reforms was also aimed at improving fight against crime and excluding the vicious practice of concealing crimes.
It is precisely this fact that explains why the total number of crimes registered in the republic in 2013 has increased by 16.2 %, meanwhile the total number of especially grave crimes has decreased by 16.7 %.
433 facts of illegal turnover of firearms and ammunition were revealed in 2013 (2.4 % more than the previous year).
Due to the explanatory works carried out by police officers 792 firearm units were surrendered to Police in 2013. 33 % of the fugitives from justice were detected in the previous year, compared to 31.6 % in 2012.
Police of the Republic of Armenia attach utmost importance to the issue of police officers' compliance with the principle of legality.
1571 police service internal investigations were conducted in 2013, more than 845 police officers were  subjected to disciplinary action. 62 criminal cases were initiаted in connection with various facts of offences committed by police officers, 10 police officers were convicted.
On the whole works accomplished in 2013 got a positive feedback from Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan.
A number of police officers were subjected to disciplinary action and the best ones were rewarded at the Collegium meeting. Within the framework of police reforms new appointments and personnel changes were also made.
Mashtots and Gavar police divisions were acknowledged as the best subdivisions 2013.
Special certificates as well as monetary rewards were presented to the police officers who were acknowledged as the best employees 2013.
