On Wednesday, February 17, Deputy Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Police Colonel Ara Fidanyan received the delegation led by Maxim Longangue, Acting Head of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia.
Welcoming the guests, Ara Fidanyan highlighted the importance of the cooperation with European structures, presented the ongoing police reforms, talking about the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the patrol service.
Maxim Longangue noted that the Council of Europe expresses its readiness to support the RA Police, as well as to take a number of measures within the framework of the ongoing reforms in the police.
The parties expressed readiness to work closely together on preventing domestic violence, torture, ill-treatment, cybercrime and other areas within the framework of the "Armenia-Council of Europe 2019-2022 Action Plan”.
A number of issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
