Police of the Republic of Armenia hosts reception for the delegation of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

On November 21 Deputy Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Police Major General Artur Osikyan received a delegation led by reporter of PACE's Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights  Ms Mailis Reps.  
Greeting the guests, Mr Osikyan comprehensively represented the main Human rights issues which are in the focus of the Police leadership's attention.
Mr Osikyan also touched upon the current reforms covering the mentioned sphere. Particularly, the following issue was at stake: the noticeable steps taken towards protection of Human rights and improvement of conditions in places of detention. During the meeting the parties also touched upon the recent Legislative amendments and police officers’  powers and duties vested in the law of the Republic of Armenia “On freedom of assemblies”. The legal bases and norms of establishment of the Disciplinary Committee  functioning within the system of Police of the Republic of Armenia, as well as its statutory functions were considered, too.
During the meeting the parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
