Police uncovers illegal actions previously committed in the State Committee for the Protection of Economic Competition

15.09.2020 16:02 Squandering or embezzlement

Employees of the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic offences of the General Department of Criminal Police have uncovered a previously committed crime.
On the basis of operational information, materials were prepared, factual data were acquired that officials of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition acted in favor of a number of companies, of their personal interests, and used their official position against the interests of the service.
In particular, on August 8, 2017, in the corresponding columns provided by the “Standard Dialogue” company in the test reports, which are an official document, the employees of the State Committee for the Protection of Environmental Protection falsified data on the non-compliance of products with established standards. As a result of the fraud, 12 dairy enterprises were not brought to administrative responsibility in the amount of one percent of the annual turnover, which amounted to about 155 million AMD. The State suffered damage on an especially large scale.
Other factual data have also been obtained.
With the intention of committing joint theft, the employees of the SCPEC, in 2015-2017, appointed two persons to the positions of an expert and a specialist, illegally providing one of them with a “Toyota” car registered on the balance sheet of the institution. These persons did not go to work, but salaries, bonuses and payments were written off in their name. The car was also not used for the needs of the commission, but during this time 9113 liters of fuel were written out. Thus, over 12 million AMD was stolen by means of squandering and embezzlement.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with this fact.
