The United Kingdom Expresses its Willingness to Support the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of Armenia

On January 31, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Ghazaryan received John Gallagher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia. Welcoming the guests, Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized the importance of the visit of the Ambassador to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Ghazaryan presented the process of formation of the Ministry, as well as the process of reforms that are aimed at the establishment of professional divisions. In that context, the minister emphasized the importance of the patrol service, adding that this year it is planned to introduce the service in the entire territory of the republic. Ghazaryan also referred to cyber crimes and the work being done to prevent and detect them, accentuating that the Criminal Police has formed a fairly effective unit for combating illegal drug trafficking through the Internet. Thanking John Gallagher for his multifaceted support, Ghazaryan expressed hope that from now on the Embassy will continue to support the reforms implemented in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia thanked for the warm reception and congratulated Vahe Ghazaryan on assuming the position of Minister of Internal Affairs. John Gallagher then presented the programs implemented by the Embassy and expressed his satisfaction to the Minister of Internal Affairs for highlighting and valuing those programs. He expressed his willingness to continue effective cooperation with the Ministry, particularly in the directions that the latter considers to be a priority.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan presented the structure and main functions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, highlighting the support and experience of the United Kingdom to the Armenian government in the confiscation of property of illegal origin, disaster risk management, improving the professional skills of rescue service personnel, combating cybercrime, and other areas.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs David Hambaryan presented the reforms implemented in the field of road traffic safety.
Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed at the meeting.
