Armenian Police hosts reception for UNHCR Armenia Protection Officer (VIDEO)

Today on June 4 Deputy Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Major General Artur Osikyan received Ms. Kate Pooler, UNHCR Armenia Protection Officer.
Artur Osikyan introduced the RA draft laws “On making amendments and supplements to the Laws of the Republic of Armenia “On the RA citizenship”, “On Refugees and Asylum” and “On stateless persons”. Mr Osikyan mentioned that the first and second draft laws are currently being considered by the National Congress of the RA.
On behalf of the UNHCR office Ms Kate Pooler expressed willingness to continue to assist the RA Police. It was suggested that Armenian party invite foreign experts from appropriate departments to exchange experience related to the status of refugees. Suggestion was made to organize study visits for the purpose of learning from the experience of partner countries.
Among the issues discussed at the meeting were defense of the rights of refugees' and other matters pertaining to improving the legislative framework in that particular field.
