Deputy head of the RA police receives the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia

On August 23 Deputy head of the RA police, police Major General  Artur Osikyan received the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia Mr. Damtew Dessalegne.
Other officials of the Armenian office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as those of the RA police Headquarters, Legal, Passport and Visa departments also partook in the meeting.
During the meeting the assessment of the RA draft law «On making addenda and amendments to the RA law on “The citizenship of the Republic of Armenia”, made by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on the bases of own researches, was represented, the assessment was made from the point of view of the degree of meeting the requirements of the UN 1961 Convention «On the Reduction of Statelessness», the draft law of the Republic of Armenia “On making addenda and amendments to the RA law “On refugees and asylum”, which was prepared for the sake of issuance of travel documents and ID cards with biometric data in compliance with the UN  1951 Convention “On refugees’ status” , as well as the RA draft law “On stateless persons” were as also represented,  the UN office in Armenia suggested its considerations to be included in to the draft laws being elaborated by the RA police.  
In the light of the mentioned issues the UN office in Armenia reaffirmed its intention to organize informative visits to European countries so that it was possible to get familiar with advanced experience on the spot.
The Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, partly, expressed his delight and gratitude for the effective cooperation and for including their considerations into the draft laws.
The deputy head of the RA police and the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees expressed hope for the continuation of the effective cooperation.
