Man Wanted by law Enforcement Officers of Turkmenistan Detained at the Meghri Border Checkpoint

On December 13, 44-year-old Davud E., a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was found at the Meghri border checkpoint, arrested and transferred to the Meghri Police Division. He had been wanted by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Turkmenistan since December 14, 2007, on charges of part 3 of Article 292 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Turkmenistan (for the purpose of illegal preparation, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors) and part 4 of Article 254 on the charge of Part 1 (Smuggling).
Detention has been selected as a measure of restraint.
