Chief of Police Receives the Ambassador of Iran to Armenia

On November 9, the Chief of Police of The Republic of Armenia, Police Major General Vahe Ghazaryan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
Welcoming the guest, Vahe Ghazaryan highly appreciated the relations formed between the two states, including the bilateral cooperation in the field of law enforcement. The Chief of RA Police spoke about the fight against narcotics. He mentioned that a new department was created within the criminal police, whose main function is to prevent and reveal cases of illegal drug circulation in social networks and information platforms. Ghazaryan emphasized that it is planned to create a department within that department, which will be located in Meghri.
Ghazaryan also spoke about the discovery of a particularly serious crime committed in Armenia this year in which the law enforcement officers and the embassy of Iran were also involved.
Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri expressed gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing the close Armenian-Iranian relations. Welcoming the creation of a professional police unit in Meghri, he noted that it will further increase the level of security at the border, and expressed the support of the Iranian side in that direction.
Two sides also discussed further areas of cooperation, as well as other matters of mutual interest.
