The RA Minister of Internal Affairs Receives the Delegation Led by Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly

On June 22, the delegation led by Laura Kelly, the Governor of Kansas, was received by Vahe Ghazaryan, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. During the meeting, Vahe Ghazaryan expressed his utmost appreciation for the longstanding and amicable relations between the two countries, which have been established over a period of 30 years. These relations are built upon shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized the significant collaboration with the Kansas National Guard since 2003 as part of the state cooperation program between the two countries. He also provided a comprehensive overview of the ongoing reforms taking place within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Laura Kelly expressed her profound appreciation for the existing cooperation, warmly welcomed the implemented reforms, and conveyed a strong willingness to share experiences. The discussions between the two parties revolved around the police's efforts in combating drug trafficking and promoting the voluntary surrender of illegally stored weapons and ammunition. Additionally, the meeting addressed the operations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Rescue Service, with Kamo Tsutsulyan, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Head of the Rescue Service, presenting an overview of the service's functions and structure.

During the meeting, Arpine Sargsyan, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, provided insights into the topic of disaster risk management. She discussed various aspects including disaster early warning, rapid response, disaster mitigation, and the overall management of the entire disaster risk cycle. Additionally, she highlighted ongoing discussions with USAID in this area, which led to the presentation of a project to the government of the Republic of Armenia.
The parties also delved into other areas of mutual interest.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their shared willingness to further enhance and strengthen the effective bilateral cooperation.
