A number of police employees face disciplinary actions in pursuance of Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan

In connection with a number of incidents which occurred on Baghramyan avenue and Azatutyan square in Yerevan on June 23, 2015, under the instruction of Head of Police of the Republic of Armenia Vladimir Gasparyan an internal investigation into the lawfulness of the actions of police officers while implementing measures aimed to restore the public order was immediately started in the Department of Internal Security of the RA Police.
According to the results of the conducted investigation, as of July 13, 2015, disciplinary violations were committed by a number of police officers.
In pursuance of the order of the RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, 1 of the aforementioned officers was demoted by one grade, 1 officer was given a "reprimand" and a "strict reprimand" was announced to 7 other police employees.
As a result of the internal investigation into the lawfulness of the actions of other police officers involved in the public order protection in the course of the assemblies conducted on Baghramyan avenue and Azatutyan square in Yerevan on June 23, and in the issue of the examination of the complaints and appeals from citizens, it was established that 3 other police employees also committed disciplinary violations.
In particular, senior police operative at the Yerevan City Department of the RA Police, Police Major E. Poghosyan, and senior police officer of the Patrol service regiment, Police  sergeint major H. Santrosyan violated the rules of etiquette of a police officer set forth in part 4 of article 10 of the RA Law “On establishing the disciplinary code of Police of the Republic of Armenia”, and Head of the office of Juvenile affairs of the Yerevan City Department of the RA Police, Police Lieutenant Colonel K. Babayan violated the requirements of  part 1 of article 42 of the RA Law “On Police service”.
Pursuant to clause 2 of part 1 of article 42 and part 6 of article 43 of the RA Law “On Police service” and in compliance with the RA Law “On establishing the disciplinary code of Police of the Republic of Armenia”, E. Poghosyan, H. Santrosyan and K. Babayan were given a “strict reprimand”.
The materials of the internal investigation were submitted to the RA Special Investigation service, the process was suspended. The final results of the preliminary investigations started at the Special Investigations service and Investigation Commitee of the Republic of Armenia will be updated.
