The Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Police hosts press conference with Commander of the First Battalion of the Traffic Police,  Police Lieutenant Colonel Arsen Arshakyan

Today, November 20,  2014, the Information and Public Relations Department of Police of the Republic of Armenia hosted a press conference with Commander of the First Battalion of the RA Traffic Police, Police Lieutenant Colonel Arsen Arshakyan.
At the news conference Mr. Arshakyan presented the statistics of Road traffic accidents for the past 10 months of 2014 and spoke about the main preventive measures carried out by Traffic Police so far.
Thus, during the mentioned period of time 1137 road traffic accidents have been registered in Yerevan in which 54 people died and  1502  people got bodily injuries of varying levels of gravity.
During the accounting period, 29395 vehicles have been imported into our country, which is 3548 more compared to the same period last year.
Unfortunately, the increased vehicle importation has led to the increase of flow of traffic and RTAs.
Mr. Arsen Arshakyan mentioned that the issues related to the traffic safety in our capital have been made the focus of attention of the Police.
During the past 10 months of 2014, records of administrative offences have been drawn up against 86554 drivers for violating the traffic rules, 3468 vehicles were taken to the penalty area of Traffic Police.
30 special operations have been conducted to detect violations of traffic rules. Records of administrative offences have been drawn up against 485 drivers for driving while under influence of alcohol, 315 cargo transportation vehicles were taken to the penalty area of Traffic Police and the drivers were fined for not having proper vehicle documents and Driving licence categories. 
At the end of the press conference Mr. Arshakyan answered all the questions posed by journalists.
