On Tuesday, April 10 Head of Traffic Police Yegor Karapetyan received Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Ali Naser Sobhanipour.
Welcoming the guest, Mr. Karapetyan introduced him the ongoing reforms of the Traffic Police.
The two sides highlighted the importance of the well-established cooperation between Armenia and Iran, which prepares the ground for the close collaboration between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries, in particular in the sphere of Road traffic management.
Expressing gratitude for warm reception, Ali Naser Sobhanipour noted that there is a great flow of Iranian tourists to Armenia. Only last year 220,000 Iranian tourists visited Armenia and policemen and traffic police officers treated them kindly.
The two sides discussed the procedure for notifying drivers of vehicles with foreign license plates about the violations of traffic rules at border checkpoints.
The Head of the Traffic police said that drivers will soon be informed about the committed violations at Meghri checkpoint, too.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, Ali Naser Sobhanipour visited the Traffic Police Operational Management  Center, got acquainted with the activity of the unit.
