On February 12 the police chief of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Gasparyan hosted the head of the OSCE office in Yerevan, Ambassador Andrey Sorokin.
Vladimir Gasparyan touched upon the reforms and noted that the work of the system has become more transparent and public and the fact earned the public’s appropriate reaction.
The police chief noticed that the progress in the provision of modern working environment and technical equipments is obvious, and the works on provision of a new uniform are underway. But first of all the police leadership watches over the completion of substantial reforms, over the formation of a new policeman’s image, and there is a lot of work to be done in this regard.
Touching upon the functions of the police during the forthcoming elections, Andrey Sorokin mentioned, that the organization level increase from election to election also depends on the consistent work of the police.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
Bidding farewell to the high-ranking guest, Vladimir Gasparyan once more emphasized the importance of close partnership and amity between the police and Yerevan OSCE office and thanked Andrey Sorokin for the real support and assistance to the current reforms.
